Diving Back In

Chocolates, friends, and family have taken me away from Avgar. So I dove back in by writing on the second book in the series, The Rise of the Farser Beasts. It was like falling into a soft bed.

Let me regress for a moment. I went to the Chesapeake Writing Workshop in September and it was simply wonderful. Brian Klems, the online editor for Writer’s Digest, did a fantastic job. The two most important things I took from it:

1. Don’t say it is really, really, really good. If it is that good then it must be something else. I took out five lines from my first paragraph because I was saying the same thing over and over and over again.

2. You have less than 30 seconds to get a literary agents attention. They are not reading your first five pages you put your life and soul into unless you get the query right and even if you do get the query right it probably won't fit them. So write your best query and keep on sending it in. :)

Cassie’s Word: Back to Work Mom!!! Just leave a little time for dog walks.
